Material as Memory
This body of work approaches memory as a condition we inhabit rather than something we retrieve. It reflects the understanding, how our present is shaped by inherited ancestral imprints—patterns that operate largely beyond conscious awareness, where individual thought begins to dissolve into a field of accumulated experience. The work remains abstract in nature, yet deeply present, existing as a subtle trace of what is carried, absorbed, and continuously unfolding within human existence.
The practice engages material as a site where memory resides and transforms. Processes of making—tearing, layering, compressing—become parallel to the ways memory is formed, retained, and altered over time. Rather than illustrating memory, the works attempt to hold its presence through material conditions and physical engagement.
Handmade paper, derived from natural sources, carries this inquiry forward, retaining traces of its origin even through transformation. This suggests that memory persists through change, dispersed across body, matter, and environment
